CA Pharmaceutical Fee File Corrected

Providers, take note: California’s Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) announced that the Medi-Cal pharmaceutical fee data file, updated weekly, was replaced for the week of September 5, 2018.

The DWC encourages any providers who downloaded this file to update it with the replacement file, and to recalculate any reimbursements based thereon.

A Minor Adjustment

The DWC issued a Newsline on September 7 explaining a data file correction to the Medi-Cal pharmaceutical fee data file. According to the DWC, this correction affects “less than 100 out of over 700,000 records.” That said, the Division still recommends recalculating any reimbursements that may have been based on the original incorrect data file.

The DWC updates the pharmaceutical data fee file on a weekly basis, on Wednesdays, based on information the Division receives from the state’s Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). On September 5, the DWC updated the file, as usual. But on Thursday, September 6, the DHCS notified the DWC that DHCS issued a corrected file.

The DWC promptly replaced the file on the DWC website and FTP server.

DaisyBill’s OMFS calculator has been updated to reflect the changes. We encourage any DaisyBill users who calculated pharmaceutical reimbursements between September 5 and September 7 to recalculate, just to be on the safe side.

As always, we will continue to update our software with the latest adjustments (and occasional corrections) to the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS).
