During this January lull, now that we’re finally back into the swing of things after the holidays, let’s do something nice for the workers’ comp community. Kids’ Chance California is a great organization that awards scholarships to children of injured workers.

In the daily scrum of paperwork, fractiousness, and factions, it’s easy to lose sight of the real impact of injury on a worker and his or her family. Real people suffer injuries or die. Their families, in addition to the pain of an injured or lost family member, experience lower income and, frequently, permanent economic setbacks.

Kids’ Chance California helps injured workers’ children by providing needs-based educational scholarships. Let’s give back a little or a lot. Even just a little serves the function of bringing the injured worker (the whole point of workers’ comp) back into focus.
