Confusion Over Work Comp Clearinghouses and Bill Review Companies

Claims Administrator: Employers Compensation Insurance Company

Issue: Confusion over Employers’ clearinghouses and bill review companies

Status: Open

Description: Employers incorrectly instruct California providers to submit their electronic bills via their EDI agent, Jopari. Due to DaisyBill’s tracking overdue payments, Employers’ California workers comp electronic billing should be submitted to Stratacare, via an entirely different EDI agent.

As you can imagine, this can be very confusing for individual providers as they try to figure out what exactly is going on with their bills.  For our part, it’s taken a lot of persistence to get Employers to return DaisyBill’s telephone calls and emails.  In pursuit of answers, DaisyBill has called repeatedly, leaving countless unanswered messages for both Stratacare and Employers. Ultimately, our success is due to Coventry’s efforts to assist in resolving this problem.  If it’s taken us this many resources, we can’t imagine what it’s been like for the rest of you.

Steps to Take:

  • DaisyBiller:   If you’re a DaisyBiller, you don’t need to do anything.  We’ve already tracked down the correct bill review and clearinghouse for your bills and we will continue to track these bills for timely payment.
  • Non-DaisyBiller:   For non-DaisyBillers, if you’re experiencing lost or incorrectly rejected bills submitted to Employers, double check with Employers to make sure you are communicating with the correct clearinghouse and bill review company. Unfortunately, you may have to be even more dogged and persistent than usual.
