Your Workers' Comp e-Billing Support Team

Your Workers' Comp e-Billing Support Team

Too many workers’ comp providers struggle to receive payment for treating injured workers — because their Revenue Management Cycle (RCM) software cannot correctly transmit workers’ comp bills and medical documents electronically.

The result is that bills are lost, improperly rejected, and often underpaid or denied. Who can providers contact for support? No one. Without experts to fall back on, providers’ staff must play whack-a-mole to obtain reimbursement.

Providers who treat injured workers need a support team that knows where all the moles are hiding. Most importantly, a team that cares that payers send timely, correct payments for workers’ comp bills. daisyBill is that support team — whether or not you’re a daisyBill client.

Even if you do not use daisyBill, contact us with your questions and concerns. Our mission to improve the workers’ comp landscape is not limited to our clients — we’re here to fight the good fight on behalf of all providers who treat injured workers.

Workers’ Comp e-Billing: Complex (and Chaotic)

Typical RCM products designed for private insurance and Medicare work great — for private insurance and Medicare. But workers’ comp has additional billing requirements, most significantly the requirement to submit medical documents that substantiate the treatment furnished to an injured worker.

Standard RCMs cannot handle these requirements. As a result, providers turn to half-solutions in an often ineffective attempt to get paid, including:

  • Snail-mailing workers’ comp e-bills and medical documents
  • Submitting workers’ comp e-bills through a standard RCM (which often snail-mails the bills anyway)
  • Exporting e-bills from a standard RCM and paying a clearinghouse to submit the e-bills to the payer (while simultaneously snail-mailing the medical documents and hoping someone matches each e-bill to its documents)

Sometimes, the e-bills make it to the payers; sometimes, not. Sometimes, the medical documents make it to the payers; sometimes, not. Sometimes, the bill is paid correctly; sometimes not, and good luck submitting an appeal to dispute reimbursements.

If the bill gets no response or is improperly denied or adjusted, you start over again. And it often seems like no one cares — not the payer, not even the state regulatory agencies charged with ensuring compliance.

daisyBill: Support Team to Tackle Payment Chaos

What are workers’ comp providers to do? Practices have no one to assist them with complex e-billing protocols, lost bills and documents, and incorrectly denied bills and the necessary appeals to dispute them.

Claims administrators must notice that some states (like California) frequently don’t bother to enforce the state’s payment laws and regulations. Again, no one seems to care if a provider is deprived of correct reimbursement (except daisyBill).

Making it sustainable to treat injured workers comes down to having dedicated workers’ comp technology and a knowledgeable support team to help with the payment chaos foisted on providers by burdensome billing regulations, unenforced payment regulations, and sheer technical complexity.

That’s where we come in.

Whether you use our software or not, daisyBill wants to give providers the knowledge to defend their practices and make treating injured workers sustainable.

  • daisyBill chat (the pink circle at the bottom right of this screen) and email lines are open to non-clients.
  • Our Claims Administrator Directory, complete with contact information and compliance data, is free and publicly available.
  • Our extensive reimbursement data is free and publicly available.
  • Our free webinars are accessible to all.
  • daisyNews is here to keep providers informed of the latest developments.

Workers' comp is in chaos in some states (e.g., California). Incompetent and sometimes unscrupulous actors take advantage of this chaos to profit from the system at the expense of providers. For the foreseeable future, no one is coming to help; providers and injured worker advocates must cooperate in mutual protection.

Together, we’re stronger.
