California’s Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) updated the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) portion of the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS), effective for all dates of services on or after April 1, 2022.
The good news: the update simply conforms the OMFS to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) payment system as required by law, and includes no changes to existing procedure codes or reimbursement amounts.
The DWC announced the change in a recent Newsline, and posted the update order on its DMEPOS fee schedule web page.
California Labor Code Section 5307.1 requires the OMFS to align with changes to the CMS system. As such, the DWC reports that this update order:
