DWC Posts 2022 Q3 DMEPOS Adjustment

California’s Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) updated the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) portion of the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS), effective for all dates of services on or after July 1, 2022.

Not to worry; the update does nothing more than conform the OMFS to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) payment system, as required by law. The update order makes no changes to existing procedure codes or reimbursement amounts.

The DWC announced the change in a recent Newsline, and posted the update order on its DMEPOS fee schedule web page.

California Labor Code Section 5307.1 requires the OMFS to align with changes to the CMS system. As such, the DWC reports in its update order that:

“This recurring update notification provides updates for the following files:

1. There are no updates to the DMEPOS fee schedule file for Quarter 3, 2022.
2. DMEPOS Rural ZIP code file for Quarter 3, 2022.
3. There are no updates to the Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (PEN) fee schedule file for Quarter 3, 2022.”

In other words, this DMEPOS update changes nothing substantive for California workers’ comp providers, who may continue billing as usual. For daisyBillers, our Fee Schedule Calculator and billing software are up to date, as always.
