TX DWC Invites Providers to Stakeholder Meetings

TX DWC Invites Providers to Stakeholder Meetings

The Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation (TX DWC) takes a novel approach to improving the system: consistent dialogue with providers who treat injured workers.

As such, the TX DWC hosts quarterly online stakeholder meetings (with Q&A) specifically for providers via Zoom, where the agency offers updates, data, and discussions of current industry-specific issues.

The next quarterly stakeholder meeting will take place on Friday, April 26 at 12 PM CDT. Details below!

TX DWC Seeks “Open Communication” With Providers

According to the TX DWC website, quarterly stakeholder meetings “are informal and designed to enable open communication between DWC and system participants.”

The TX DWC splits its meetings into two sessions: one for providers, and one for insurance carriers.

The agenda for the upcoming April 26 providers’ meeting is posted on the TX DWC website. Speakers will include Jeff Nelson, the Commissioner of Workers’ Compensation, who oversees the TX DWC. Other presenters will include:

  • Mary Landrum, Deputy Commissioner, Health and Safety
  • Amy Rich, Health Care Provider and Return to Work Outreach Specialist, Health and Safety
  • Dan LaBruyere, Deputy Commissioner, Compliance & Investigations

Important topics on the agenda will include:

  • Workers’ comp disputes and dispute resolution
  • Online provider resources
  • Designated Doctor (DD) billing and reimbursement
  • Administrative complaints

There will also be time for Q&A, so providers should come prepared with their most pressing questions. If the TX DWC’s recent provider webinar series is any indication, the representatives attending will be transparent, communicative, and helpful.

We urge providers to take advantage of these meetings, stay informed, and bring your concerns to the TX DWC. Providers may join any quarterly meeting by clicking the Zoom link on the quarterly meeting page.
