The Texas Division of Workers' Compensation (TX DWC) will host the second installment of its 2026 Health Care Provider Boot Camp starting June 9.
This free, eight-part webinar series covers billing, reimbursement, payment disputes, preauthorization, return-to-work reporting, and more. Any provider treating Texas injured workers (or considering treating them) should make time for these valuable presentations.
The first round of this year’s boot camp showed attendees how to become a Texas workers' comp provider and navigate the comp system’s Health Care Networks. Providers who attended the first round will see new material, though first-time attendees are welcome to join without having attended the previous webinars.
Having watched several ourselves, we can highly recommend TX DWC webinars. This agency treats providers like partners in ensuring injured workers’ care, unlike the California Division of Workers’ Compensation (CA DWC), which has, in many cases, left providers and injured workers defenseless and inadequately informed.
All sessions are live via Zoom from 12:00 to 1:30 PM Central Time. Providers must register for each session separately at the links below:
Each webinar includes a Q&A with TX DWC staff and a copy of the slide deck for reference.
As in many states, workers' comp in Texas has unique twists that make the administrative side fundamentally different from group health or Medicare. In particular, the fact that employer coverage is optional in Texas, combined with the quirks of the Health Care Network system, can complicate the process.
That’s what makes these webinars so valuable. While treating injured workers in Texas has challenges, the TX DWC seems to make every effort to support providers in navigating them. In our experience, these webinars are detailed yet efficient, making your investment of time worthwhile.
Providers in states like California have no such support.
We encourage Texas providers treating injured workers to avail themselves of these sessions and to have staff attend. In particular, take advantage of the fact that TX DWC representatives are live and willing to answer questions.
